Antique Japanese Pottery Sake Bottle Kayoi-Tokkuri
This is an antique Japanese ceramic sake bottle. It is called a Kayoi-Tokkuri and is used to pour sake. The commuting sake bottle became popular as a rental container for liquor stores in the Edo period when sake began to be consumed on a daily basis. This period bottle is gray with some bllack Japanese kanji characters on the outside. There is a spout hole on the bottom to facilitate the pouring of sake.
